Howdy all I might be moving to the Salem area. Used to go there every summer as a kid. My question to you all is I have a CCW permit in Arizona. Are they hard to get in ARK? Will mine transfer over? Are AR 15 and M1A rifles allowed down there? Never shot more than a 22 when I was there as a kid in ol South Fork. Are there still plenty of places to shoot? Last question is Jobs. I am a heavy equipment mechanic been one for 16 years and wonder if anyone might have and tips  on where to look in the Salem area?  Jim Ozbirn

Should be as easy as filling out reciprocity paper work, and a small check. But I'm really not sure. Someone will chime in with the correct answer.

From the map at the top of the page it looks like AR&AZ are ok with each others permits. All the guns you talked about are fine in AR.

You surrender your AZ permit in exchange for an AR permit. You get fingerprinted and pay the fee. Bad news is you don't have a permit in the meantime. Good news is your permit in AR will be good for full 5 years. When I turned in my Florida permit, it was about to expire. I expected them to only honor it for the remaining months and make me renew. That wasn't the case.

I didn't like the idea of not having a permit for 30-90 days so I applied for a New Hampshire non-resident permit first. It was around $20 and arrived in 2 weeks and I carried under it while waiting for my AR permit to be processed.
