Yeah I had my own reserves for quickclot but this is the sponge impregnated with it and has it's usefulness but is still to be used with only an extremely deep and bleeding cut. Sort of a good last resort befor going with a tourniquet.

I used to have the quikclot "sponge" in my IFAK.  Then I learned, what I thought was a sponge, and what quikclot thought was a sponge, were 2 different things.  I thought a sponge was...well...sponge like.  What quikclot considers a sponge is this:

If you look closely you will see "25G"....... "MESH BAG"

Now, ya'll probably already know that it's larger granules in a mesh bag, in which case, that's what you want in your kit, cool.  And I believe we all have to decide what's best for each of us, in our own kits.  I just hope nobody else interprets "sponge" it like I did, thinking it was something else.  It is one of the reasons why I want with the combat gauze instead......

Just a non-medical, spend too much time on the interweb, opinion.

Take Care,
CT
