Anybody else catch the C130 doing touch and go at Drake Field this afternoon, didn't have a camera handy but it was fun watching.

I spent about 5 hours straight doing approaches to Drake Field in a Herk around 1999/2000.  We were testing new avionics software.  Drake field has or used to, have a MLS(Microwave Landing System) approach back then when they were all the rave.   Turned out GPS got much better so MLS didn't catch on.  Not many airfields had MLS at the time so we had to fly from West Virginia to here to fly the approaches.  I know it seems like a long way but we also needed one that wasn't so crowded.

Hey, drillerdave. I drive by Drake Field every day on my way to work, I didn't see that though. I live south of West Fork. Do you work at the airport or just saw it in passing? I bet they are stationed out of Jacksonville and just practicing.

If there is a Herk seen anywhere in Arkansas, about 500:1 that its based out of Jacksonville. We will be flying lots more, soon.

I live on the East Side of West Fork, we were driving by and happened to see it sitting next to the old terminal.  My wife had never seen one so we turned around, by the time we parked next to the Post Office it had started to taxi out onto the run way.  We watched it take off and were begining to leave when we heard some guy with a radio remark that it was coming back, so we stuck around.  All total there was about 8 cars full of people watching.  We've some AH-64's and Kiowa's (don't know what varient) there on several occasions.  You never know what you'll see at the airfield.

Yeah I work in North Central AR and they buzz the rig often, and we see them all the time at differnt altitudes.
