Anyone have any experience with them?
I have taken the 3 day pistol course at DARC, and really got alot out of it. I am thinking about taking a precision rifle/marksmanship course, and was looking at my options. I came across this: http://www.thortraining.com/training-courses Their prices are really tough to beat! Id like to give them a try if I can get some good feedback on them. Im not looking for ghillie suits and stalking, I just want to get better at precision shooting and get some good instruction from people who actually know the craft. |

FWIW.... I dont know where they're at with it, but DARC could possibly offer a sniper course in the future. They offer one now, but they are $$$ for private weekends. I did a private weekend there for the pistol course a couple years ago, and it was totally worth the money, but I cant swing it again. If you have the means, you cant beat the DARC guys for training. They REALLY improved my pistol-craft in a long weekend. I cant say enough good things about the DARC guys. That said, Im looking for something a little cheaper for a rifle course. Its just a fun hobby for me, so I dont need ot spend big $$$. I just want to be proficient at 500-800 yards. |

Sorry to jump off subject, but what type of rifle are you wanting to improve your proficiency with? Remington 700. It started life as an SPS-T chambered in .308. As with everything guns and cars, it is slowly getting farther and farther from stock. Ive got a couple different optic choices on Larue QD rings, a Larue rail, some badger doo-dads, some Kampfeld work on the bolt, and am in line/have paid for a J. Allen Enterprises stock (if/when they ever release them). If the J Allen doesnt materialize by Spring, I may cancel and get an AICS. |

I might be headed out there tomorrow, is there anything you wish me to inquire about? Nothing in particular. I am more interested in reviews and advice from people that have either: (1) been through their courses, or (2) know the instructors. Basically, I like their price, I like their location, I just want an 3rd party/neutral account of what to expect. |
| Not sure about the training, but it seems as they've gotten bigger, they are less cust . oriented. I bought my 50 from the about 5 years ago, and I think there were only the owner and another guy working there. The guy I dealt with then was super nice and we BS'd a while. last time I was there and inquired about some suppressors and class 3 goodies, I was blown off. Went back to see about them, guy took my # and was going to check with manufacturer. Still no call and thats been 6 months ago. |
