Just had an unusual (to me) helicopter fly low and close over the house. Headed east to west and shook the house like crazy. I ran out with the binoculars just in time to see it from the back. After a quick search of the web it may have been an NH90, but I'm not sure. The tail looks right and it had a rear cargo door that was open. Any NH90's in Arkansas? I'm near Vilonia, btw. Whatever it was it was cool. Things that shake my house when they fly over are alright by me. Dave |

Too small. What I saw was at least twice the size of the Scout. Here is pretty much the same view I had as it flew off toward Conway. There was definitely a rear cargo door like the NH90. The NH90's overall shape/bulk and the tail with the low horizontal stab look right. The paint was lighter than in the linked pic, but still a military looking drab olive/gray. I just can't find any info on them being in the U.S. |

I'm happy when the c-130's flow low although they don't seem to fly as low these days as they did when I first moved out here around '95. |

Growing up in the sticks here in NEA, back in the early-mid 90s, it was not uncommon to see a C130, B1s or even B2s flying low enough to make out scratches in the paint job. I even saw a few B2s before they were even generally known to exsist. ![]() |

Coolest I've seen from the yard was a c17 that came crawling along pretty low. So slow that it looked like it shouldn't have stayed in the air. About the time it was overhead I heard the engines wind up and it was out of sight in no time at all. Like warp drive. Extremely impressive for a bird like that. Just about anything that flies interests me, though. A few days ago a bright yellow J3 flew by. When I get rich next week I'm going to start working on my pilot's license. |
