Randy Stewart came in to Academy last night. At the time I didn't know who he was but I ended up helping him with some game cameras. Some how our discussion turned to politics and that's when I found out who he was. He said he was the one who introduced the bill after the CCL list was released. He did say the carry in church bill would be brought up again next session. I never asked him whether he was a Dem or Rep as he seemed to be fairly on the conservative side. I see today he has a D in front of his name. If I would have known I'd have probably asked him why he's a Democrat and not a Republican. I only have to assume it's because of the old style Dems in his district. They tend to be more conservative rather than liberal.
All in all he seemed like a nice guy especially in regards to the carry laws. We did discuss the carry on school grounds. What he told me last night was as the law is currently written we CAN carry onto school grounds legally while carrying. That is to drive to drop off or pick up and not enter the building. He said that was confirmed to him but I can't remember who he said that was. Oh I did remember part of the discussion was although there are currently laws forbidding carrying a weapon onto certain properties, school grounds in this case, the CCL law takes precedence in the case of school grounds. That's what he said he was told. |
