Warning, I saw the warning in GD Thursday about someone hacking Model 1's web site and stealing customer credit card numbers.   Well the post was way up there in number of pages and was turning into a rant against Model 1 because they have been slow getting any orders out.  Funny how that always happens in GD, no one can stay on subject.  I'm sure Cowboy or Dan can post a link to the original.

I got home today and guess what, my credit card company called me.   They first start with a small charge to Apple Mobile I Tunes and when that went through they hit me up for more.

Luckily my credit union locked my account after the 4th charge.

So I guess no matter how long ago it was, if you bought anything through Model 1 the bad guys have your CC #.  My last purchase from Model 1 was in February 09.

Edit:  Found the links

Update, sent an email to Model 1 Sales, they say it is not their web site. They did say the following:
"In the last 4-6 weeks, over 23 bank card providers’ customer data bases have been compromised.  Our website is secure and has not been compromised.  If it had been, we would not pose a valid security certificate, pass the frequent security audits, or be allowed to conduct business in accordance with the terms and condition of our service providers.  Most card providers have been pro-active and are canceling cards in blocks and reissuing them to their customers.  If you are concerned about the security of your credit card, please contact your service provider immediately."

Just seemed odd to me that all that this seems to be happening to a lot of us and a lot had ordered from them.  Who knows, but who ever is doing this I hope they catch them and soon or someone could just post their names and address on AR15.com and we can get a posse together and take care of this.

One was a computer store for $27.87, and the second charge was $200 and some change. I forget the companies name as they (Bank of America) just called me in response to the charges. Suppose to talk to a fraud account rep in the next day or so. I had no idea how it happened until I saw this post. I used that credit card to make an order at Model 1 Sales in Feb, but later canceled my order due to the wait times. Nice to know they keep my credit info on file

Cowboy and I arent sure how it happened to us, but we'd both ordered from a very popular acessory manufacturer here within days.

I had forgotten about that Dan. Fun times.

I wish more CC companies and banks did Virtual Numbers. Create a new "card", give it a credit limit $5 more than what you're spending and an expiration date of 24 hours and you're set.
