Good start  for sure. It'll bring you many hours of fun, and an empty wallet  Now add KRYLON!

And who could blame you?  I'm about to hack both my verticle foregrips in half.  One is a KAC, the other is a clone. I have about 30 bucks in the two of em combined.

From what I have seen and read I think the stubby is definatly the way to go.

Absolutely.  Gripping it the tradtional way isn't the best way. It's more of an index point than anything.

Here we go.....again..but umm Spikes makes an affordable VG. Around $35.  I have 3 of them and really like them, my wallet agrees.

Got a pic of the way they attach?  The website doesnt' show one, it does say it has a set screw. bad juju.

It would be really hard to get a pic, because the allen screw goes in the bottom of the VG and creates downward  pressure off the rail for the tension. Its super sturdy and it works for me being that I dont have need to have quick attach/detach VG. It also allows you to have a full size or a stuby grip. I got 2 more on the way!  Just cant pay the $80 for the same function.

Ah.  If the screws stay in, that would be a good attachment system for those that don't worry about taking them on and off.  qd systems are just one more thing to snag shit on or accidently open.  I just have reservations about set screws. Rockset should help though.

Actually, I trash magpul on an area or two. To the point where I had a short, but polite conversation yesterday with the owner of magpul. He agreed that my area of complaint was indeed a problem area and was being worked on.

When you have a chris costa quote, from a staged gag reel, as your sig line... you're most definatly a wanna be Magpul whore.

I am assuming that you mean it is not the best AR.
What would be a better choice for an AR newb who doesnt want to invest a lot of money into one.

The Only reason I would want an AR would be to start shooting 3 gun, on that note are there any 3 gun comps around central Arkansas?

Olympics are pretty inexpensive.

The local shop I buy at has one right now for 700 IIRC.

I am not sure of the model but it has a carry handle.
