Anybody ever do any training at Direct Action Resource Center, I have heard they do very little public training. If you haven't heard of them look them up... www.darc1.com Drew |

I haven't called them myself but a friend of mine was sending his specop guys over and I had him ask if they did civy work, he was told they did but on a very limited scale ! Did you check out the web sight, MAN they have a HELL of a setup, we have another training center just off Hwy 64 between Crawfordsville and Marion, I don't know what it is called, but I used to cropdust the cotton that butts up next to it and would circle and watch them shoot...(I don't think they liked me doing that) |

I have some friends that have trained at Blackwater's Moyock, NC facility, and they tell me it's top notch, and the pricing is'nt too bad either. I am needing to take an EP course, and was looking at Valhalla or BW's High Risk Security courses. Their prices are'nt too bad, ESI looks pretty high speed, but is around 4K. |

What kind of classes would you be interested in seeing at DARC? They could probably be persuaded to run a civilian class if enough folks were interested. To the best of my knowledge, they've only run one civilian class, a three-day pistol class a couple of years ago. I took it and it was a very good class. We shot a lot (I fired 2900 rounds in three days) and covered a great deal in those three days. It was a small class and we were all experienced shooters, so the class moved right along. On the last night, we did force-on-force exercises with Simunitions in the shoothouse, which got everyone pretty well amped up and was a good test of what we'd learned. They primarily run Urban Warfare classes for special operations units and Hostage Rescue and High Risk Warrrants training for SWAT teams. DARC isn't a firearms training facility, although firearms training is part of what they teach. The training is about fighting (and winning) in a confused urban environment. |
I'd like to see the following on a beginer through advanced level. I'd take them all. Tactical Pistol Tactical Carbine Long range shooting Some kind of survival training (probably outside their doctrine) |
| I have talked to them on the phone some time ago, Garth, Fred and Glenn Choate and myself had set up a training session with them and something came up where Garth couldn't go so we called it off. Do you know Lanny Province, he and John trained together for quite some time, I duck hunted with Lanny for years, and John duck hunted with my cousins for many years. |
|
YES, LANNY AND I ARE FRIENDS. HE'S STILL QUITE THE SHOOTIST. I'VE KNOWN THE D.A.R.C. FOLKS FOR QUITE A WHILE, AS WELL, SINCE '95. NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW OTHERS ABOUT WHOM A TRUE BEST SELLER COULD BE WRITTEN. I AM VERY FORTUNATE TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH SEVERAL VERY INTERESTING PEOPLE WHO DO VERY INTERESTING THINGS. WES |
|
I shot sporting clays with Lanny and his boys every weekend for years, I was thinking about getting Lanny to work with me on combat pistol and carbine, I can shoot the hell out of some sporting clays but no formal training with hand gun or carbine, I am not new to them just no training and in todays world it might pay off ! What best seller do you speak of ? Drew |
He is not speaking OF a best seller. He is commenting on the fact that he personally knows real people about whom a best seller COULD be written. I am assuming that he means a non fiction best seller in the action/adventure/military genre. |

Man, you guys are throwing around some old names I remember. I used to shoot IPSC with Lanny over at Memphis. Also shot with Wayne Umberger, Stan Wiggington and a few others that their names slip me right now. We used to shoot at the Memphis Club, Delta Club in Marion and Blytheville Club. That was back in the late 80's and early 90's when I was shooting with them. Sheesh, I'm gonna start showing my age here real soon... |
I think that is just a misprint on the police olympics site, if you notice below, it has it going on at Pine Bluff... pretty much what happened last year... we showed up at DARC, no one there, found out it had been moved to Pine Bluff and had to make a flying trip to get there... best to check a coule of days before to make sure... |
