wondering if anyone had heard anything about this. I ask because my brother in law who is the chief of police in my area, informed me that after july 1st it would be legal to hunt with a suppressor. he did't get to much into it. so I'm asking if anyone has more information.

Found a little tidbit, saying that Gov Brownback signed the senate bill 152 on march 31st. allowing you to hunt with a suppressor. I don't know how to do links otherwise I would post.

yep, that is correct.  It also allows for you the CCW any caliber pistol while hunting, which includes bowhunting

How does one go about getting a suppressor permit in Kansas.

I'm not having much luck with google.

There's no such thing as a suppressor permit. You pay for the suppressor, send your Form 4, fingerprint cards, citizenship card and $200 to the BATFE and wait for the tax stamp. Once it shows up to your dealer, he calls and you pick up the suppressor. Go read the suppressor section in Armory and fill in the details. Have fun!

Yep, it's really that easy.

PM me if you have any questions!  I've dealt with NFA often.

Sweet.  Those prairie dogs will never hear it coming

Can anyone in here shed light on taking a suppressor into MO (not neccessarily for hunting).  From what I have read, MO residents have to have a C&R license to have one.  So, if you are a KS resident do you need the same thing, do you have to stay out of the state or can you fill out the ATF form and be GTG?  I know that there is a form that you have to fill out with the ATF to go across state lines.  I am wondering about the states position on the subject and whether or not you are allowed to come into their border.  I am interested in jumping into stamp collecting but I do a lot of shooting in MO and it won't be worth it if my new toy has to stay at home. (Sorry for the mini highjack)

MO passed a law that no longer requires an FFL to possess NFA items.

Beautiful.  So you can now fill out the ATF paperwork requesting permission to cross state lines for up to 365 days and be good to go?

Once the law takes hold, yep.  I think it's July 1st.  Not 100% sure though.

The form is an ATF 5320.20 which you can find a copy of here.

You need the form to transport DD, SBS, SBR's and machineguns, but you don't need it for suppressors.

Take a look at section a of the instructions on the form Nick linked to above.

Absolutely correct.  I keep a copy for my cans just in case I get an overzealous cop who doesn't know better.

Definitely not required though which is why suppressors are awesome.
