I will be in Leavenworth for a year starting in the early fall. College, not prison.

What do I do in eastern Kansas? Do I hunt in kansas or across the border, do they allow concealed carry? how about black rifles? any restriction on AR's or handguns?

I am not much into hunting right now but others who are will chime in on that. As far as concealed carry, it went into effect in January. No restrrictions on EBR or handgun, NFA is only SBR and AOW. No FA or Suppressors. Check around the HTF for Robert MCleod and DVC training specialists if you want your CCH cert. DVC also has some impressive courses coming up, they just hosted a Vickers course this last weekend. As far as meeting up with the locals to shoot, our HTF mod Coopmandu is co founder and spirit guide for the KDSC our local band of misfits.

Welcome aboard

There is also good Split tail deer hunting in that area too. Like most of the state. Not too many snotty women.. I love Kansas.

You will be ok here, I'm guessing you will be CGSC bound? There is plenty of hunting on post although the base is small, plenty of pheasant hunting out west and plenty of shooting at the Parma Range about 15 minutes away... BTW, the base does have a rod and gun club and the Leavenworth BASS club also meets on base. If bass fishing becomes your interest you can contact me to become a member...
