From what was posted on Sturm, and earlier on Subguns, it sounds like it's the first match to be put on by this bunch. Two classes: Iron sights & Scopes. Hopefully they will have a good turnout. We can always use another subgun match. I'm thinking it should be a pretty good warmup for the Indy subgun match the following weekend. More shooting is always better.

I'll see what I can do. I may be able to come for an hour or two. I would like to support this event as it is the only MG type event within reasonable driving distance for me. I take it this is subguns only or will there be any MG rifle type activities? I have only had my UZI for about 3 weeks and being the non-tactical person that I am, I don't have any "match" type accessories like mag pouches and such. Also, my skills with the UZI are far from polished. Are you going David? Any idea on the amount of ammo that will be required? ETA: What acutally goes on at this event as far as competition? I've never been to anything like this. |

I will be bringing mag pouches etc. It's going to be styled similar to an IPSC match, three different stages run one at a time with a mix of paper targets and steel knockdown targets. Figure probably 20-30 scored shots per stage but of couse with a M-gun that means extra spent shots, I will probably carry 4 mags per stage. The competition is subcaliber only the rental area will by any type of gun upto a couple of belfteds on site. |
I asked a few months ago over on the Bowers board and the reply was: "This is an outdoor range. Signs will be posted from the access points on 6&34. There will be porta-jons and concessions available. The course of fire has not been completely designed yet. I am planning for three stages in one course of fire. The longest possible range for the match will be 50yds, shortest about 7yds. You should not need more than 250rds to complete the course. The competition is set to start at 1100 CST, I imagine we will be done by late afternoon. If you will need rain/sun shelter, you should bring your own EZ UP. There will be some space for this in the parking area. If you need to stay in the area, I recommend the Plains Motel in Holdrege(1-866-249-2288) " This was followed by some basic match rules. Don't worry about it. I never expect to win. I just expect to show up and have a great time shooting. Stuff your back pockets full of mags before the start of the stage and go to town. Like David, I'm hoping this match is a success and that it will become a regular attraction. More matches is always better! |

Comming home from the NE Subgun Match this Saturday I made it into South Sioux City, NE at 1:30 AM. Mini Van full of M-guns, My Kel-tec P32 the EAA Witness 40 I was carrying at the shoot, and the Revolver my daughter was carrying were all sleeping on the dash. Right down main street towards my turn was a swarm of police pulling every car off the street and into a parking lot. I told my daughter to get the guns on the dash uncovered, we had tossed our hats over them at rest stops along the way. Turns out to be this Click-it-or-Ticket stuff checking for seat belt violations. At 1:30 AM quitting at 2:00 AM that means they are using this as an excuse to catch drunks on thier way home sine the bars close at 1:00 AM in NE. So Barney asks for license/registration. I give license and tell him the registration is somewhere on the dash by the guns and not to get nervous as I go for it. He says those guns are unloaded right? I say definatly not unloaded. Barney says loaded guns on the dash is not a good idea, I reply they are in plain sight and just fine. Give him the registration and proof of insurance. He then calls to officer Chris to come over to discuss the guns with me. Most the cops I noticed were wearning glowing vests that said deputy sheriff. So officer Chris comes over and Barney says there are guns on the dash. Officer Chris says where you been, I say we been to the NE State Submachinegun match and we are going home. Officer Chris tells Barney the guns are in plain sight and send us home. We are 4th in line so have to wait while the 3cars in front of us move on, Barney talks with us about Click-it-and-Ticket program while we wait. My guess is Barney is possibly an officer who came over from Iowa to assist and is not used to seeing guns in plain sight as Iowa guns must remain hidden. Not growing up in Iowa or being LE. I can't imagine thier system. Why would the officer want to walk up on hidden guns only to fine out the suprise later that there was a gun there. Kind of like a ostrich in the sand, if he can't see a gun there must be no danger. |

David, was the match considered a success and is a second match a possibility in the future? I know you guys & gals worked your ass's off to make it happen after all the rain. I wish I could have stayed for more than stage 1. It was fun and I did learn alot even though I shot only once. All in all, it was a nice day, I bought a shirt and shot some rounds.
