Anybody else have to sign for ammo?

Was getting a lock at the hardware store and they had a sign saying we have to sign for ammo again.

Said it was fed and state law.

Have i missed something?

It was proposed at the Federal level, but it has not gone anywhere that I know of. I just bought a case of .556 at Freddies and only had to give my money. No signature.

When has there ever been a law requiring that someone "sign" for ammo?

I don't buy ammo at Swansons hardware. But I did see that sign.  Seems weird to me.  I'd like to know what its all about.

In the 70's and early to mid 80's you had to sign for ammo.

Not up here but i went to NJ for christmas one year and went into Dicks Sporting Goods. They would not sell me ammo because i was an out of state resident. I had to have my dad buy the ammo for us. They wanted his drivers license and copied all the info down into a huge log book they had behind the counter. The shit of it was that the book was filled with peoples info, and left in plain sight at the main register, and there were a bunch of names and addresses for people in NY and PA.

I have also been to places there where you had to sign for black powder and i have heard you now need a firearms id card to buy ammo in certain places.

I am so glad i moved out of that place.

Haven't heard about that up here in fairbanks.  That said, I'm out of sporting goods come sept 1 and into another job Tuesday.

Sports Authority apparently had a store policy where you have to sign their electronic pad when buying ammo.

I hear the famous Irishman, Buck O'Fama, buys a lot of ammo there.
