For those interested  http://www.elections.alaska.gov/results/12PRIM/data/results.htm

Looks like there could be some major shake ups when the legislature meets this session
Also really surprised that ballot measure 1 wasnt a landslide of yesses.

Huh, #1 barely squeaked in there.  That one suprised me honestly.  My understanding is that it would (theoretically) lower property taxes, which are already too high.

Didn't know anything on #1 ballot measure.

With both initiatives I felt kinda like there was the Nancy Pelosi "you have to pass it to see what it does" kind of thing going on.   Measure 1 might have reduced taxes for home owners slightly but changing the tax rate or raising prop taxes on businesses would be all that is needed to offset the drop.  At least that is how I saw it.  It isn't like that tax revenue would go away and the govt not replace it.

With 2 well that one didn't have any redeeming qualities in how it was set up IMHO

So fairbanks guys tell me about Click Bishop he evidently will be the republican rep for all the way down to just outside Palmer

I've heard Click is ready to give Democrats anything they want.  As it's hearsay, I hope it's wrong.

Sorry you are going dude.  Barring finding a vastly better job, we are probably heading that way come spring also.

Gonna hang until the Nov elections, if I can, since getting re-registered to vote may be too late.  We'll see.

Debating it, at the moment.  Likely to eastern Oregon for a bit while things settle, then probably back to the Wenatchee/Cashmere area in Washington since I know the area very well.  Currently selling personal stuff off since I can't take much with me.  Also trying to find a couple pets homes.

Prop #1 passed meaning we will have to find somewhere else the $1.1 million it's going to cost.  Anyone want to vote who or what get's shorted?  Should have been in the same proposition.

yup, there is no such thing as a free lunch.  How could so few people put 2 and 2 together?  A more honest ballot question would have been to ask for a tax increase, no reason, just a tax increase.

What was the proposition all about, other than some nebulous sort of welfare subsidy for low income folks?  We have enough free stuff for low income folks.

If it was meant to starve the .gov beast, it is the wrong approach.  As if Proposition 13 stopped the runaway growth of California government...
