| Anyone know of a good agent to deal with in Hawaii? My wife and I might be moving there in the next few months, specifically Honolulu. |

If you're military, get referrals from the housing offices. Most of the agents refered by housing are decent and don't want to screw up their ability to advertise on base.
I would seriously re-consider buying on Oahu. Ive bought and sold 3 times ( 3 different states)and the market here is the worst I've seen. You MAY be ok if you're not looking to re-sell in the next 5-10 years. |

While I'm not from hawaii, I'd like to point out that it is a very bad time to sell any real estate ANYWHERE, the WORST econemy in US history since the great deppression, not just in hawaii. Yes, hopefully things will be better in 5-10 years. |

If everything works out and we are able to move, this would be a place we would like to retire at, so re-selling the house is not an issue for us. A co-worker of mine, transferred there a few months back as is supposed to give me her agents contacts but I have yet to hear back from her. |

Hopefully, we can work the contract out so we would have time to buy a new house and move before we would have to hand over the keys to our current house. |

Based on all your answers; decent WV market and wanting to retire in Hawaii, go for it.
My comments regarding the rel estate market were generalities, but buying a 500k house in Hawaii is a lot different than buying the same type house in Georgia for 150k. I was also basing my advice on a temporary move; 3-5 years and short term re-sale I have a few friends that retired here and love it. You have solid employment and its a buyers market so happy house hunting ! You could always paddle in from the Big Island, killer deals on outrigger canoes right now |
