So I screwed up and didnt notice that my ACHP expired in February
Now I have to retake the course and do everything over (60 day grace period)
I have a Florida non res permit that is still good

What are the thoughts on whether its worth getting AK again.
If it had the NICS exemption, it would be a no brainer, but since thats not an option and its not required anymore I dont know whether its worth the time (my biggest expense) or the money

the best benefit is reciprocity when you travel to other States that recognize the CCW permit....other than that, I don't see a reason.

I got to say that reciprocity isn't a worth while reason in my book...

while you will be able to carry there, you will be tried under there laws not ours. what may be a clean shoot here may not be there... Court, Fees, anti-gun ppl have more ammo, don't drop the soap...

its hard enough to know the laws here let alone in another state, and another, and another...

Generally common sense self defense is the same in all states.  Even before I was a cop I had a CCW and carried in other states I was allowed to carry in.

Here is my  two cents, take it for what it's worth.
Back when I used to work for a living and I would conduct a traffic stop and as I made my approach, if someone was sitting with the window down, hands in plane sight and holding his License, insurance card and ACHP, I generally found that these type of people were squared away and no problem at all.  these people were in direct contrast to the OTHER types who had guns stuffed under the seat, between the seat cushions in boots, transmission hump etc.

Be that responsible gun owner that carries and no one knows. Who doesn't jump out of the car at a fender bender accident and get in a shooting due to road rage. More people who silently carry with proper permits just show that we people as a whole can and do carry responsibly.

until that day,

i only got my permit so I could carry out of state back on the family farm, IE Idaho, when I was pulled over for a BS traffic stop 1145 only one on the road,  he was bored. the deaputy was pretty cool about it, knew the laws and just ran license and plate, told me to clean mud off license plate.
