I put off getting what I needed to mount a new can because of Christmas expenses and I figured the papers would take longer than 70 days.  So at the end of last week I was scrambling to get the parts.  Couldn't get what I needed locally so I went on-line.  I had to order from 3 different vendors since no single place had everything I needed.  Everything shipped on Friday and according to tracking to 2 of them should be here today.  The third (and most important piece) wont be here until who knows when since the company shipped it parcel post!  And it had to travel the shortest distance (WA state vs. IA and ID)

WTF?  Why do companies insist of shipping first class or parcel post when it 1) saves them a couple bucks, 2) quite possibly costs more than flat rate priority mail and 3) takes 1-3 weeks rather than 1-3 days?  They charged me $7.95 for shipping and I would have gladly paid them $10 to put it in a small flat rate box.

I know it's my own fault for not already having the parts but I can still be pissed at them.

Last week I also had a back ordered item from another company who shipped the back ordered item a day after the in stock stuff.  Guess how they shipped it...

Alaska gets fucked by the long and hard dick of shipping on a daily basis. Just think of it like sex: The longer the anticipation, the better it is

Tried ordering a $30 Duracoat kit, received this email today:

Greetings,

DuraCoat is flammable and must be shipped via UPS Hazmat to Hawaii. Unfortunately there is no other way of shipping. Your order total is $103.00. We will hold the order until you confirm the charges.

Best Regards.

What about Alaska Air Goldstreak? They can ship hazmat, usually aren't cheap but could be cheaper than UPS.

808, who is that through? i made a deal with someone on ebay and i think it cost me around $80 total.

On another note a also dread seeing items ship parcel pool, although my last couple purchases on amazon arrived about 5-6 business days. its all a crap shoot with parcel pool ive had shit take 3weeks and some only a few days.
Good luck to ya!

Cost me $20 for a #2 box.

Everything could have fit in a flat rate envelope and been way cheaper.
Next time it's going to one of my sisters in Mt by ups then they ship USPS pri and still be cheaper.

I think that there is a difference bewteen what Amazon ships stuff as "parcel Pool" and parcel post

I get a lot of stuff from amazon, and rarely does it take more than a week from when they mail it (assuming they use USPS as opposed to two day air)
I have had a few packages comes in the last 6 months parcel post and they ranged from 3-7 weeks to get here, from date shipped

Oh I'm not contesting it having to go through Hazmat, but I remember buying a couple bricks of 22LR which also went Hazmat for about $60 shipping.  Seems kind skewed considering the weight difference.
