Recommended minimum for winter vehicle transport:
1) Pair of tire chains, or equivalent traction aids. 2) Shovel, full size shovel. 3) BOOTS, good winter boots, socks ( if you are not wearing them, Put them in your car.) 4) One blanket or sleeping bag per passenger. 5) Fire Extinguisher. ..... Those are the basics PLEASE at least keep those five items in your vehicle. Good fortune favors the prepared. ..The list continues, ad infinitum............................ .......Jack,Lug-wrench,Spare tire, 2x6 block for under jack,WATER, First-Aid kit,road flares, WD-40, gloves, hat, granola bars, beef jerkey, water, sterno, jumpercables, fan-belt,fuses, tailight bulbs,motor oil, antifreeze mix,radio transmitter,flare gun, .30-30 rifle, a few MRE's..... etc. |

It pays to be prepared. One note, on the fire extinguisher, if you've had it laying about on it's side, shake it and find a home for it upright. Dry powder extinguishers such as ABC, tend to settle the powder inside, which when laying sideways can block the nozzle and prevent the extinguisher from doing what it's supposed to.

I should probably take the case of .22 out then. That might hurt a bit. After my recent ordeal im looking into the same thing. None of it would have got me back up and running though. MRE's, water, flashlight, sleeping bag, clothes, jumper cables, chains and a jack. |
