I just completed an M4 select fire transition course last night. Started with a clean M16 with Noveske Crusader upper. Upper has about 4000K rounds through it. Shot a total of 2700 rounds without cleaning. Lubed the BCG each morning with Slip2000. First 500 rds were Barnaul .223. last 2200 rds was Federal XM193c. At about 500 rounds, experienced a type 1 malfunction (Barnaul). Bravo Co. metal mag with Magpul follower. Round was out of spec. Around 2600 rds experienced a type three malfunction, again with Bravo Co. mag (cleared with a type three malfunction drill) No further malfunctions occurred.
I have 15 range Pmags and 15 range metal mags, a couple are the Bravo Co. mags with magpul followers. I had no other problems with mags except the Bravo mag. It's an old mag and has been beat pretty badly over the years. Conclusion: Lubrication: I have been using Slip2000 for about 4 years now, summer and winter but have always cleaned at the end of the day/range session. Even at the Magpul Carbine 1&2 I cleaned each day. This is the first time I just let it go until the end of the class. I experienced no lubrication related issues. Pmags: I have been using Pmags since they first came out and even have some of the Gen 1 recalled mags as well as a combination of Gen 2-3 mags as well. I have yet to have a mag related malfunction with a Pmag. Also have never had a type 1 malfunction from failing to seat the magazine with a Pmag. I know that I'm probably preaching to the choir but wanted to share my observations. Until that day, Darkop |

Where do you get Slip 2000 in Alaska?.....Last time I had to order and ship it up. It's been a while since I ordered any. I got a quart squirt bottle a couple of years ago from Brownells and they shipped it. I don't think it is Haz-Mat. Another observation, I just wiped the bolts clean on 1 AR and 1 M16 and re lubed. They both just wiped clean without solvent. As far as Pmags go, I've come to the conclusion there the best. I was reluctant at first due to the poor performance of some "Other" poly mags. I am sitting on about 100 GI mags and will be selling them this winter along with that dumb Magpul AFG. I thought that the AFG was going to be the shit after switching to the MagPul grip but have pulled them from the three guns I was running them on, just more versatility without it. I don't know what the rules are for selling in the HTF but I will be selling a bit of AR related stuff this winter. Until that day, Darkop Edit: to state I just saw UAFGRAD's selling in the HTF post. I won't be selling anything in the HTF :-) |

What is this Slip 2000 stuff? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Non-Toxic, Biodegradable, non-stinky, and dang good lube. I use the EWL version. It is not hazmat. I I think Slip shipped mine up FedEx IIRC. The lack of stank as well as working at least as good as CLP as lube is my reason for loving it. I can't tell you how many times my munchkins dumped gun oil all over the place here. |

Grouse Ridge shotgunning club in Wasilla has a pretty complete seclection of Slip products including the EWL 2000, piston parts cleaner, etc. They are kind of a pain to get to unless you live in the Valley though. Never seen any SLIP stuff at the Spurtsmans Whorehouse. I'm surprised they don't carry it. |
