Hey guys,

The wife and I are sort of in a uncomfortable spot and I was hoping someone here would be able to help or point us in the right direction.  Our car is on its last legs, and is now beyond my abilities to repair.

So,  I was hoping that someone might be selling a car for cheap or be willing to take payements, know when an auction is (i know alyeska is the 25th) or would even be able to walk me through fixing the problems with the car.

It needs an IM in march and I honestly doubt it will pass.

Any help would be useful guys.  I'm not asking for a handout, just a point in the right direction

You cant renew without it (until 1/1/09)
If you get caught in the city proper with expired regristration (as well as several other things) they will impound your car for 30 days for the first offense.

Sorry for being offline so long guys.  We are also experiencing sat. internet problems that should be resolved later this week.

The car is a 94 subaru legacy L.  (2.2l awd automatic)

The tranny is sluggish shifting, the engine leaks a little oil, but those are ok problems.

Currently the main ones are:

Bad sensor that I cant track down (Check Engine Light is on constantly)
Spedo is sporadic at best (sometimes works, sometimes doesnt, but cant find a new cable anywhere in town)
And my personal favorite, the motor for the power seatbelts fried the other day.  SO, i am currently running around with a lap belt bolted across the frame in near the same spots as the regular shoulder harness.

Mostly we are hoping it will make it until the alyeska auction on the 25th.  Hopefully I will have some motors for the seatbelts tracked down in a few days.

Along the right side of the expressway as you're leaving Fairbanks and heading towards the highway to get to North Pole (the route past Fred's West) is some sort of junk yard that is apparently closing down.  Never noticed it before, only noticed it recently because of the sign out there saying they are closing and having a sale.  Don't know if they are letting people scrounge individual parts or just entire cars, though.
