All is well except for my Suburban and a Big Mamma moose.  Had the whole family with me.  Luckily it happened right in from of the Naptowne Inn in Sterling.  Barb, the owner of the place was just plain awesome.

I will get pics up tomorrow.

What did you do with the moose?

Charity picks them up.  I can't do anything with it.  I did not want it either since it took a looooooooooong time to die, get offed.  2 shots to the head with a .40 did not really phase it.  I don't know if it was bad shooting or what, but the trooper eventually went for the 12.  easy 10-15 minutes between shots.

THIS is exactly why I still have my Suburban -- even after 245,000 miles . . .

Then they become soup and stew for the homeless or something?  Good to know that the meat doesnt go to waste.  On the bright side, now u can sencil in a moose shaped hatch mark on your door.  4 more and you will be an ace!

Hey, how about posting the fix it cost or Buyout price, you got from your Insurance Company?

Really, I would like to know what it costs or how much you will make running into a Moose.

FYI:I already gave my "Glad Everyone Survived" reply in another thread and I still am.

What a dumb ass
Why did he want to use his handgun and not just put the animal down to start with

Could He have been just F'n lazy and went for the 40 on the hip because he didn't want to walk all the way over to the Cruiser?

The .40 should have done the job, and probably would have if the moose had been sitting in a manner that allowed him to shoot at the top of the head without putting houses and or traffic in the line of fire.

I was carrying my 92 and am now seriously considering something different, I mean that big moose made my little bullets seem pretty insignificant.  I don't plan on shooting a moose with a 9mm, but if I had to I think that it might just serve to piss one off.

I'm glad that you and family are unhurt.

The roads around Sterling are a  moose magnet every time I drive down there.

Also the reason I have a full size F series pickumup.

There's something to say about those suburbans. I drive a 94 suburban with 199,600 miles on it. The wife also drives a suburban 92 with 100,000 miles. My suburban has survived a moose to the right front and has since been repaired 10 years ago. They are both still going strong. Stay safe

Estimate for repairs with new parts is $3500.

Waiting for an estimate for using used parts.

Not worth putting that much into when they can be had for less than $6k for a nice one now.

What year is your Suburban? I just bought the wife a new Silverado pickup so her 92 with 120,000 on it is going for a good price.

mine was a 98 LT.  We bought it for $7500 2 years ago.  The neighbors just picked up a 99 3/4 ton with a 454 for $4500, LT package and all that.  I am so frikken jealous.  They did offer us $1500 for ours for spare parts for thiers and to make a beach rover out of.

I have mine (the wife's) on craigslist for 2500 but would sell for a lot less. It has a couple issues but nothing mechanical. Runs damn strong. I would just keep it but I only have a 2 car driveway and with the 17 year old also parking its a bitch. Damn 4 vehicles is hogging up the driveway and street.

My father hit one once while driving to work in his Datsun 280Z (sports car).  He was coming down a hill in the winter so there was no choice of dodging it.  He remembers 4 visuals like picture cells in a movie.  He could get around it so he did the only thing he could do is drive under it between the legs (280Z's are pretty low to the ground) and duck.  Had he ducked to the right instead of the left it would have decapitated him...
