Believe it or not, you will actually be going south to the Russian River Flying in and renting the RV? If not, make sure you know Canadian law for firearms. I would say 12g with 00 or slugs. Most of the time Bears are not a problem and coexist with the people ok, but it never hurts to have a little insurance |

What UAFgrad said. But there ain't much going on at the russian right now...ain't heard about the second run of reds. The reds out here dissappeared, but they were pretty hot for a while. There was a 79 pound king caught this week in the Kenai. halibut is going good over here in Seward. |

Feel free to IM me and get phone numbers too. How long you up for? Don't forget to hit up the state F&G website for the latest news and updates, and I have been working all summer so I ain't totally up on all the fishing news, there should be a few sites that have updates. |

I'd guess 50's - 70's, I think I heard a forcast of showers. Don't worry about that, it never rains to hard for very long around that area. Buy bug dope, I recomend something w/ DEET, prefer 40%+ but deffinatly not less than 25%. Usually the bottom end of the russian there is pretty friendly, the occasional bear that does show up is much more interested in fish than people (just like the fishermen). I would expect most of them to be up top near the spawning beds, theres plenty for them to eat there (10+ miles up river). Personally I carry a 12ga w/ slugs, anything less and you might as well have bells and pepper spray (cheaper and a good deterant). Mainly just don't jump on any when they're eating or sleeping, they do a good job of staying away. And keep a clean camp. |

All right, How come no one ever mentions all the hotties in ALaska? If I got one more cup of espresso in Anchorage, (right near International Aport and Artic),I could have flown home myself! We had a great time, hit the Russian, growled at Mama grizzly and her 3 kids, then went down to Soldatna for some true Combat fishing. You guys are lucky. |
