Holy crap I've never seen them this bad...

Just went out and bought a SkeeterVac today - hope it works.

Just got back from the AMGA Anderson shoot.  There were plenty of mosquitos to go around, at least 30+ per person each on the first day.  I must have showered in bug dope 6 times to make it through and yet I still got several bites.  The next day there were many more people - fresh meat buffet for the little buggers that didn't get their fill the first time so not as bad.

I'm standing there looking though my sights.  Mosquito lands.  Okay, I can still kind of see the sights.  Two more buddies land and I can't even use my sights as they completely block them.

I can't believe they were so bad, everyone had their own personal cloud of flying bloodsuckers.  I'm glad I brought the BIG can of insect repellant.  Some times just taking a breath would result in eating a flying demon, I know I spit out at least three or four.

I am serously considering becoming a dragonfly farmer.  Not only are they pretty, they eat mosquitos.  Hurts like hell getting hit by one while riding a motorcycle, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice.  All the spiders seem to like to get into the house and build spider webs in the most desolate places where there aren't any bugs to catch, why aren't they all outside doing their job on the mosquitos?

OMG y'all, I was floored by the mosquitos.  The first one I saw I thought was a moth.  We even took pictures of them next to a dime to show people how big they are up there.  When Gloftoe got pulled over for a speeding ticket just near Nenana, about 15 mosquitos flew into the car in the time he opened the car door to get out.  It was scary.

BTW, if anyone is interested in my trip diary, it's on my blog at www.addlepated.net.  We got to do some really neat stuff (like me catching the largest halibut of the year so far! and landing at base camp at McKinley!) and I was so sad to leave.

Down around my house here in North Carolina, mosquitos aren't a problem, at least, not yet.
Right now I get attacked by Yellow Flies.  Those little bastards even chase my truck when I'm leaving the house!
