Upper with forward assist and dust cover- Check
Bolt carrier group- Check Barrel- Check Gas tube and pin- Check Barrel nut- Check Flash suppressor and crush washer- Check MaTech back up sight in the mail on the way- Check Front sight base/gas block- No Check Forearm- No Check Charging handle- No Check Not 100% on the front sight but thinking I'll start with just a normal front sight base that I'll need to get pinned. Thinking forearm will be a Samson Evolution Haven't decided on the charging handle yet either; might try either the Rainier Raptor or the BCM ambi one. |

I was just up at Septics today putting together an Upper... My first one Had him order a barrel in for me , and he put in a little TLC on it. The rifle is a gift to a Marine who just got out, so I don't get to keep it What a shame you missed me |

They are kind of fun to assemble even more fun to shoot. But the only down fall to them is once you build one, You want to build another.
AlsoI got a barrel from septic a while ago , I went in for a barrel walked out with a upper+completion kit gas tube and pin and some mags, I must say super nice guy and I am happy to go threw him for anything else I may need in the future ! |

If you can afford it, get the Raptor. The BCM is solid, I have a couple non-ambi ones and my buddy has an ambi one. They all pinch the shit out of my palm when I knife-hand them without gloves on. Rainier version doesn't do that. If you pinch the charging handle, BCM is good to go though. No real reason to spend more money on the Rainier. Anyway, back to BS. I'm guessing there was at least one cat turd on strongarm's bench? |

I'm guessing there was at least one cat turd on strongarm's bench? I am a finger-hooker and have switched exclusively to the BCM, but I don't have experience with any of the ambi ones. I will say to stay away fromt he badger-type handles. Not only did the retaining hook chew the hell out of my upper, but, as Dave warned me might happen, the roll pin holding it in broke while I was out shooting. I replaced it with a regular handle and put it on my side-charging Grendel. |

Looking now like the forearm will be a Midwest Industries Gen2 SS series one piecers.
I was looking around and saw them and that they are lighter than the Samson and sent them an e-mail asking for sure what the length was on a 10" one; in case they might be 9.875 or 10.25 or whatever and they just call them 10". I sent it at about 12:30 am on Christmas morning and got a reply about 40 minutes later. Told the guy what I was thinking and yesterday he spent some time digging out a forearm and a rifle and laid the pieces out together and got some measurements and pics and sent them to me. Figure in exchange for the effort and service I can buy one of their products. Will have to notch out the upper rail just a tad but not too bad and he mentioned that they have a lot of people do that. Now I just need to find someone in the area that can drill and ream the barrel and a FSB. Hmmmmmm...... I wonder..... |

If you're going for lightweight, be aware that BCM has some ridiculously lightweight free float tubes coming out. They're doing a 10" which will supposedly be under 7oz, and you can get an email notification when they come in stock: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-KMR10-Free-Float-Handguard-p/bcm-kmr10.htm I would imagine they'll be pretty popular though, so you'll have to act fast.
Randomly, there was a picture of Romper in the BCM industry forum thread about them with the 13" version:
Romp should smile more. |

Hmmmm..... that looks nice, but they're a bit past my price range. If they wanted a pic of one of the CCA people to promote bidness, they should have had Rick. ![]() He's recovering from major surgery and won't be available for while. He IS willing to show you his stitch (that's correct.......no s) though.
