Was checking out sling thread in the ar-15 section because I'm in the market for a new one. Curious what the locals are running ? I prefer a two point. Also awhile back I saw a place that had slings for long range guns that had a strap that attached both bipod legs together but can't find it. Any links on that? |

Have a Troy and a Vickers padded. Like the Vickers the best of the two. both have QD ends and I set up all my AR's, M1a, shotguns with either a QD endplate or female QD on the stock.
That way I don't need 50 slings. I do need to get with Septic on the bolt guns though. |

I'd post a link but I'm on my phone. I haven't read any reviews, other than a few first impression type reviews, on the sling... So who knows how well it works. Edit: I lied, here's the link |

Depends on what you are looking to do with your AR. A standard 2 point sling allows you good support when shooting in position, and works ok to carry the rifle on your shoulder. A more modern over the shoulder 2 point (Blue Force Gear Vickers sling, VTAC Mk2, etc.) works very well for being on the move rapid deployment and transitions to side arm. And a single point sling is great for clearing houses or CQB work.....kind of limited use otherwise. As far as single point slings, I usually point folks to the Magpul MS3, it is simple and does not bind like the MS2 did, in addition to this it is convertible to a standard 2 point so you can use the same sling for positional shooting and transition it on the move to a single point if the need arises.....usually what I recommend to LEO types for a patrol rifle sling.
Hope that helps, R |

The Vickers slings are pretty good. Trial and error on finding what works best for you. For me I ended up with the VTAC padded sling. Prior to this I never would have thought a padded sling would be the ticked.......running a rifle for an 8 hour day and that will help you make that choice.
I believe the Vickers sling makes a padded version as well, I just like the way the VTAC runs......about the only thing I would do/have done different is have one of those guys who do the para cord bracelets make me an 8 inch piece that acts like a handle and ring it to the clasp to make getting more slack easier. Other tan that it is perfect. R |

R Ditto I run a VTAC padded although it's more to keep the rifle on me when I go coyote hunting and not used as a stabilizer even though it makes a good one I also have a MS2 sling for my HD rifle again its to keep to rifle on me and not in the hands of the bad guys |
| +1 on Impact Weapons Components stuff. I ordered the wrong item and they sent me the quick release stud I needed and told me to find a good home for the other part. Just ordered another Blue Force Gear Vickers Sling. I like the way I can tighten things up, holding the rifle close. Got a Wilderness Single point sling extra if anyone needs one. Buillet proof but not what I needed. |

For precision rifle I'm a fan of TAB Sling with Fasttex Buckles.
https://www.riflesonly.com/pro-shop/tactical-gear/tab-gear-sling.html Carbines I run VTAC Padded http://www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/slings-sling-swivels/slings/v-tac-quick-adjust-sling-prod1643.aspx Thinking about ordering the Magpul MS1. Reason is I like the no pull tab design, though it's not padded it's much wider so it won't dig as much in your neck. Also I've been trying to keep slings attached all the time so the lack of padding makes it easier to bungie the sling against the rifle for storage and quick access. http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG513/slings Sling Sleeve http://www.blueforcegear.com/sling-sleeve.html |
| I used to use the vtac padded. Its a great sling, but has some downfalls(i.e. gets twisted easily, tail gets in the way during certain actions like reloading, expensive w/mounting hardware). I found this one and have since switched all long guns to it http://www.wayofthegun.us/store/ most guys that have tried it have switched also. Solves all problems of the vickers/vtac design. |
