Iowa fans are fair weather because most are not alum iowa state fans are hard core because most are alum there I said it Since I pretty much HATE collegiate sports*, I couldn't give a shit less. However, being a fan of Iowa State University and loathing the University of Iowa... It fucking well better be Iowa State. *Except possible wrestling and broom ball. |

Iowa has a much larger fan base, so it stands to reason that not all of them will be alumni. Fair weather fan implies that you turn your back on the team when they are doing poorly. Attendance figures would disprove the statement that Iowa has fair weather fans. I’m not an alumnus and I have NEVER turned my back on the Hawks…..no matter how bad a season it was. ON IOWA! GO HAWKS! BEAT STATE! |

Iowa grad but I work for ISU. ISU fans are not high on the team this year. They lost more to graduation than many realize. Iowa's defense has played reasonably well and the running game appears solid. Passing game is suspect and frankly the new coaching staff is still a work in progress. ISU simply doesn't have much, or at least they didn't show much at the UNI game.
I say Iowa wins but it won't be pretty. |

Was going to be there, but the joys of management mean I get to work on Saturday.
ISU alum. I have nothing against the Hawks.... other than (some of ) their fans. Whenever I get cut off, they seem to have a giant Iowa sticker on their vehicle.... No different than when I lived near Columbus, OH. Lots of Walmart OSU gear. The game is meant to be a fun rivalry. I root for UNI/UofI whenever they're not playing ISU, I like to see our state do well. It also confuses the heck out of me that a majority of the local farmers who are not alumnus of either school pull for the Hawks... You know, the school that DOESN'T do anything for agriculture. I do not envy IA LE guys that will work the night game. Worked for DPS while I was at ISU and saw what a PITA working a game can be.... let a lone a CyHawk game.... at night. |

My new Secretary has been dropping the ball, Think I'm going to fire her... Sorry BobRob Party's at Jeremy's, he said "don't tell fish... He smells" but I dissagree. |
| I have to drill this weekend but at least it's a 5:00 game so I can catch it. I didn't go to college in Iowa so I root for the hawks since they're my wife's favorite team. When ISU and UNI aren't playing UI I root for them too since I like seeing any Iowa team succeed. |

the cyclones stayed home, can't develop players, and watched the hawks run the same four plays for four quarters.... not impressed. also, if all i could do was beat the cyclones with college's most over rated coach, i wouldn't be bragging as a hawk fan either...
with the exception of the final minutes of the 4th quarter, i should have have just gotten drunk watching paint dry. |

Iowa running game was just too much for the Cyclones. Pretty typical Iowa effort. Win in the trenches, run the ball, and have a defense just good enough.
Going to be a long year for ISU, but I suspected that for a long time. In their favor is the Big 12 doesn't look that strong this year. |

In Iowa's favor I don't think the Big Ten is very strong either. Neither conference has distinguished itself in the non-conference schedule. |

Thats funny because all he can do is go to 2 BCS bowls, one less than 5 years ago, 2 shares of the Big Ten title and and has a winning record in bowl games and against the SEC. Lets not forget Hayden Fry wasnt going to the Rose Bowl every year, he had his share of mediocre seasons and prior to him you have to go back to the 1950's for another bright spot in the program. The reality is that is damn hard to get players, especially skill position players, to come play in this state. Do I agree with every call he has made, hell no, but at the end of the day Iowa could very easily become just like ISU or Indiana, patting themselves on the back after a 6-6 season. As to your only run four plays comment, what do expect when Iowa State wouldnt stop those? If the O line is getting 3-4 yards of push you give it to the RB and get the easy yards. Though I'm not sure why ISU didnt air it out sooner, its been no secert Iowa's secondary is terrible |

Problem there Bob is Iowa has never built it's secondary since ferentz has been coaching, example 2010 season good team had the chance for a bcs championship QB goes down, ruins the rest of the season, the secondary vanderberg had like 5 mins if playing time before the northwestern game fail for the hawkeyes
Good example of a built secondary was this weeks game for Ohio state braxton miller couldn't play secondary goes in and tears it up the field. |

I didn't know Vandenberg was a one man secondary...lol. I don't know how people say Ferentz is overrated when he has made a living beating teams with more talent than Iowa. If Nick Saban was coach of a team with the talent level of Iowa he wouldn't look so impressive either. Teams like Ohio state and Alabama have backups that have more athletic ability than our starters. If anything should be said it's his lack of recruiting ability that holds us back not his coaching. A lack of talent dictates a certain style of play. For example...you can't run an aggressive attacking defense with a lot of complicated blitz packages if your corners can't cover one on one. |

There is truth in what you said but I still stated and stand behind that Ferentz never builds his secondary. for christ sakes he has a red shirt sopohmore that has never put a foot on the field as a starter QB I think his secondary QB has no play time either, you should start switching them out from time to time. He showed promise with the game at ISU switching HB every few plays... maybe they are starting to realize running one player and not preparing the rest of team is not a good idea. I also understand that to be a starter you have to earn it its ferentz "old school" attitude but he needs to change some of his tactics. I could go on about so many thing he could do coaching wise that would make him and his team better but its not my team to coach but he does a damn good job all things considered and his record prove it.
