On the front page of the DM Register there is a very positive artical on Brownells also there is a article on Volquartsen's. Both articles are positive and show guns and these companies in a good light. I would hope that it would give some people in state and local goverment the idea to go after some of the other firearm companies located in states that are hostal to the firearm industry. Les Biar move to Iowa from Ill. but was not mentioned.

I was surprised with how the register painted both companies. Defiantly not their typical liberal spin.

i don't know if i'd say they were positive, but overall not damning...  there were some pushes towards evil activities with what they sold, but all in all not terrible.

Did you see the guy who complained about Brownells down at the bottom of the page in the comments section ?  I was surprised he signed it as an employee of John Deere, I'm sure John Deere would not want to be associated with that discussion at all.

Anybody know this Patterson guy who railed on Brownells?

winner winner, chicken dinner.

much like obama, they figured out reaming the 2A out wasn't going to sell, so they occasionally back off.  besides, brownells has so many attributes ranging from donations, charity, business expansion, private sector job creation, grass roots activism, quality employment, etc. they probably were having a hard time going with a genuine smear campaign...

they touched on some things to give the antis what the wanted, but all in all, played a middle of the road approach since so many people told them to fuck off over the last opinion piece from the former editor where he suggested you and i be dragged around the parking lot until we saw the light on gun control or killed...

their circulation is very very low, and i'm hoping it continues...

Dave Patterson does not speak for John Deere. Him being the manager of advertising and marketing communications, you'd think he would know he should keep his mouth shut and keep the John Deere association out of his opinions. Seems to me that he needs to freshen up on the JD compliance training.

There always has to be a few bad apples.....

maybe somebody needs to give john deere an email and let them know that dave shouldn't be trading on their name...

I think that since he is only stating his opinions, he most likely is not directly violating any rules. However, considering that JD customers are farmers, and I don't know any farmers that don't support our second amendment, his comments could definitely hurt the JD reputation. I know many JD employees and I'd have to say that the vast majority stand behind our second amendment as it stands today. This is my opinion and i am in no position to speak for the company, but JD puts customers first. I do apologize for his comments. Please do not judge JD based on one employees opinions.
