So 17 stolen handguns that will likely not be used for anything good is a laughing matter?

I agree with everyone else that jack is a total piece of Shit, I'm just failing to find any humor in this...

As much of a dickhead as Jack Smith is, Joel is right. We should probably keep an eye out for them.

Anybody know where there's a list of what was stolen?

......Probably should post something in the EE stolen firearms thread too.

Edit for clarity.....realized it could've been taken the wrong way.

Criminals will commit crimes, violent criminals will be violent, and lowlifes who want a weapon will obtain a weapon, regardless of whether someone steals 1 handgun or 1 million handguns. Remember the recent genocide in Rwanda, which was accomplished mostly with clubs and machetes? Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

holy shit...  the guy that makes a full time job out of posting stuff that he thinks is humorous but really just pisses everyone off is lecturing the rest of us on morality?

you can't stop bad things from sometimes happening.  i'm not glad the guy was robbed.  i'm not glad guns were taken and that they may be used inappropriately.  nobody here is thinking or saying that...  i think i speak for many when i say that jack routinely plays both sides of the gun issue to his financial advantage and all in all is not on our side as a result.  he is the reason, at the core, of why criminals exist to break into his building...  he's directly participated in creating a divide between law enforcement and the public.  he has spoken out routinely against your God given rights, and acted against our movement repeatedly.  he undermines the rights of the good guys while the bad guys don't adhere to the rulebook.  as such, he's directly to blame for lawlessness, discord, and the associated crapola that occasions it because of how stupidly he acts...

...thus the irony.

i don't feel sorry for him and i won't.

I'm surprised it only took a rock and metal rod to defeat whatever measures were in place.  I always figured a gun shop inventory would go into the safe at the end of the business day.  I guess I was wrong.

Amaixner, I get what youre saying... criminals will always find a way to do their evil bidding, but it just got 17back guns easier to get one. The guns will be used for crime and change hands many times before they are recovered, unless they get recovered soon. How many illegal guns were confiscated last year that were used in a crime?

Law enforcement is in a constant battle to get guns off the street, even one more on the streets is a step back.

I didn't see any of this "criminals will get guns" reasoning in any of the past threads about gun theft...

I worked in a gun shop several years ago.  The "good" stuff went in the safe but we didn't have anywhere near enough room for everything.   I don't think we were unique.

Seriously, "guns on/off the street"? That's a Brady Bunch catchphrase designed to demonize an object, and divert from the actual problem: the people committing crimes.  Additionally, the phrase "get guns off the street" indicates a serious lack of understanding of the free market and the laws of supply and demand. Go ask England how well their program is going to "get guns and knives off the streets" even when said objects are illegal to import/posses/carry/touch.  How much more of a futile effort would it be then to attempt to "get guns off the street" in a place where they are both a natural and constitutionally protected right?

A similar diatribe could be inspired by your use of "illegal guns," since it is a nonexistent thing, just like "assault weapon,"  but I'll leave it to you to figure out. If you want the explanation, ask and I'll provide it.

/flame off

Edit: let's also get illegal cars, illegal baseball bats, and illegal shoes, illegal cell phones, and anything else that could be used by a criminal to aid in the commission of a crime, OFF THE STREET!
Ok, /flame off again.

I agree, Jack is a jerk.  And the irony of the situation cracks me up.

But,

The punishment for this type of crime should be swift, and harsh.  The chances of any of these firearms ending up in honorable hands is VERY slim.  And the prospect of their use against society is concerning.

And, every time ANY firearm is used in a crime it makes ALL firearms look bad.  This is ammunition in the hands of the politicians and anti-gunners that we DO NOT NEED!

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. But, by allowing the enemy to frame the way we think and talk about these things, we make it harder for us to win. Words and phrases have very specific and powerful meanings, and they can be designed to trigger emotions –– and that's exactly what these kind of phrases do.

So I don't have to send you $10?

I agree it was a poor choice of words... I don't always articulate my thoughts very well, add to that posting on my phone from work

I would add that you could of addressed the issue and moved on to discussing the other aspects of my post... and we could of avoided some of the headache.
