| Looks good. I prefer the Eotech over the Aimpoint myself. The only advantage I see in the Aimpoint is battery life, other than that I can take it or leave it. Hopefully in the near future we can do away with having to pin things on the ends of our barrels. A good way to do that would be if we all support IFC. |

No more worrying about pinning......ah that day will be a good one. On Aimpoints and Eotechs, definitely different strokes for different folks. OP, if you look around you may be able to find one in the EE used pretty cheap, Aimpoint just released the new 2MOA micro T-1, so I imagine a bunch of 4MOA T-1s will be yesterdays news and going for some pretty good deals if you keep your eyes pealed R |

I prefer AIMPOINT |

Here is my first and only 14.5 build, I pin and welded a YHM Phantom on my barrel. Its just a hair over 16" now. I like the looks of the 14.5's plus if you want to put the bayonet lug to its intended use of holding a bayonet you can.

Then here is my KISS rifle.

Anyone in Iowa here that can do a cut-down and pin and weld?
I understand about the velocity loss and what-not, but I am interested in having one done for the looks of it. I have access to a lathe and machinist and drill press and welder, but unfortunately they are at a community college that won't let you work on firearms, even parts. Otherwise I could actually get it done and free. Farqing gun-free zones. |

14.5's have excellent balance. My LWRC w/UBR balances right under the magwell. One of the most natural AR's I've shot, just wish the rail was longer. http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/230667_10150192847245825_500045824_7125970_304822_n.jpg troy trx extreme is a good choice |

I took a shotgun to school for a speech in 11th grade. Also, my machinist (brother) went to college at Southeastern Community College in Burlington for the Gunsmith and Gun Repair program back in the early '80s. He now teaches the Tool & Die program at NIACC. Yup, we're all safer now.

need to know thing how old do you have to be to buy a stripped lower?? if this hasn't been covered, 18 if you register your weapon as a long gun. if you are building/buying a pistol, 21 is the answer. i'd like to have somebody double check me on this, but i'm pretty sure this is correct. i've not been asked this question prior, but i think i'm correct. anyone able to verify this? ...don't want to make a mistake here... |

Sorry Septic, but since they went to "other" the receiver must be configured in such a way that it can only be made into a rifle, ie coming with a buffer and stock attached. Otherwise the ATF says it could be built into a pistol and that is not kosher in their eyes. In Section B Question 18
"If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver not a handgun or long gun. However, they still are "firearms" by definition, and subject to the same GCA limitations as any other firearms. See Section 921(a)(3)(b). 18 U.S.C. Section 922(b)(1) makes it unlawful for a licensee to sell any firearm other than a shotgun or rifle to any person under the age of 21. Since a frame or receiver for a firearm, to include one that can only be made into a long gun, is a "firearm other than a shotgun or rifle," it cannot be transferred to anyone under the age of 21. Also, note that multiple sales forms are not required for frames or receivers of any firearms, or pistol grip firearms, since they are not "pistols or revolvers" under Section 923(g)(3)(a)." |
