| How often do you guys write or talk to your representatives and senators? I've been corresponding with Latham more and more, just started in the last few months as I have not been in Iowa too long, but he seems like a pretty good guy. From you guys that have been around here for awhile, what do you think of him? I just sent out a letter to every representative regardless of district about HR 45, who knows who will listen. Just thought I'd see what you guys who have been here for more than a year and a half know about our "faithful" few representatives to this massive fucking government... |

I get pissed off every time I write them and they basically tell me to fuck off and that they know better than me, so I don't know what to do anymore. Of course, I'm talking about senators, not representatives. Latham has responded to both of my previous letters, both including legislation and information about his voting history and other information on the legislation in question. Seems like a decent guy. I have heard our senators are absolute shit though... |

My state Rep, Bruce Hunter, and my state Senator, Matt McCoy, are rarely in agreement with me.
McCoy always responds. Hunter is hit and miss. I wish I could get both out, and will probably have to volunteer for someone's campaign next time through just to facilitate the process. I can't stand either party. |

once a week? not too shabby...
i generally only write when i see they've voted correctly with something i'm passionate about or when i have a case of the red ass over stuff they voted in or pending legislation i want stopped. i can't tell you if it works well, but i've gotten to know my state senator Dennis Black (D) and he's not a bad guy at all. actually pro gun to some degree and pro carry. i'd say stay after it regardless of the results. i really believe you haven't earned the right to bitch if you haven't opted to be a positive part of a change... |
