I went at talked to my sheriff a couple of weeks ago.  He told me that they offer different levels of CCW.   One that would allow transport of loaded firearms and magazines to and from hunting, trapping, and shooting, and the other was the full-fledged CCW.  Id never heard of anything like this before, I assumed he would issue the permit and not be able to legally do anything if you went above the first stage.

Either way I think I am good to go one either from what he told me.  Now just waiting for a class.  Any classes in SW Iowa soon?

Another Sheriff that likes to put whatever restrictions he wants to on CCW's based on what kind of a person he thinks you are because for no other reason than the Code gives him the power to do so.

No kidding, I missed that part.

"and the limits of the authority granted by such permit."

Thats what I figured.  So don't ask questions, get permit, do as I please?

At least he is issuing.  I am only 23.

What county are you in DH?

I would get the permit anyway.  It provides proof about how you are subjected to different/uneven restrictions when you contact your legislator and let them know why the law should be changed.

The upcoming legislative session begins in a few weeks.

If you haven't done it yet, I suggest signing up with Iowacarry.org.  This will help you coordinate your efforts with others who are experiencing the same uneven application of Iowa law.

Are you going to make it to Septic's on the 17th?

ETA: I fail to see where your age plays into the arbitrary restrictions on your rights, and I hope that any similar approach to the issue will only serve to frustrate you and call you to action.

Good luck!

join iowacarry.org...

become a paying member as we dearly need the financial help.

then contact dawg69 (taylor county coordinator) as he's LE in taylor county and offering free classes with range time to paying IA carry members for taylor residents.  i bet he'd cut your a break if you told him i sent you.

those three things will help.  the next step is remaining passionate about changing a law that takes this kind of crapola to obtain in an effort to comply with something you're God given as a free born american.

if you need help, let me know i'll arrange it.

I'll get on that.

Ringgold County

I'm going to try to make it on the 17th!  It is pretty much on my way home to CF.
