Any body here have a mil dot scope and actually know how to and use them? I have been considering one for my 6.5 grendel (that I don't have yet). I haven't spent much time learning about the mil dots, just some brief reads and am wondering is it difficult to actually learn and apply? I have only used the regular cross hairs previously.
Oh, and any suggestions on scopes, piggy bank says no U.S.O., Nigtforce may be the end of the road in that dept. I plan on trying to use it to its full potential, say 1000 yds. |

I have a Nikon Monarch with Mil Dot. It came with a coupon for a free Mil Dot Master for calculations too.
I've never actually used it in the field but I did spend an afternoon here at home learning how it works. I have a picture window facing a fairly large area of land spotted with objects of approximate known size up to about 500 yards. I don't think it would take much practice using it to become good at hitting targets at various distances. In other words, I don't really have any real-world experience with them other than sitting in my living room. The Nikon works great at the range but I already know where the bullets are going to hit there. You might ask in the optics forum here. |
