Well, I turned in my application today, and under the justification I put demonstrated responsibility. The dispatcher perused my app. as the sheriff was not there, she said that is not a reason, and the sheriff would not accept that and I had to put something else. She said I could put target shooting or trapping . Handed it back to me and said I would have to write in something else or she would not accept it .So I grabbed it and at a loss for words I wrote carry large sums of cash  . Which I suppose I could justify, she took it and asked one of the officers will that work? He looked at it and said yeah good enough, if the sheriff has any questions he'll call you.Kinda pissed me off, this guy ran for office and one of his capaign ads said "gun permit friendly". I knew the officer that she had asked and while waiting for the jailer to show up and finger print me for my Utah permit, we got to talking about politics and gun control (and obama's position on such). All in all the jailer, the officer and I ended up talking for about 30-45 min. I doubt that will help my cause, but what the hell is the point in having a CCW for target shooting/trapping? If I get turned down, I will be rather pissed, seeing as I don't think I should need any more justification other than I am a responsible individual, who has NO criminal record what so ever. Maybe the dispatcher is one of those left wingers that doesn't agree with the sheriff on such an issue? |
