Anyone here involved in the parole process? My former bil is up for parole and if he gets it, I'm trying to find out if there's a way to get him paroled to a different county then the one he was convicted in. His family is 2 hours away and there's nothing here for him except his victim. Can we get the parole board to send him downstate to keep him away?

If he gets granted parole he will be assigned a parole officer.  Who he gets assigned to will be pretty much instantly available on the DOC's website, with contact information and all.  I would just reach out to them once you find that out.

Not sure how it works in MI,  but my buddy back in Oregon got popped for a felony (for watching a felony in progress while he was drunk)  while on vacation on the coast.

He was assigned an office in our county upon release.

A person can be assigned to a parole agent where he/she is living. Not where the crime was commited. Same for Circuit Court probation. It can be transferred to the County where the bad guy resides.

They wont send him anywhere for parole. Its where he lives. He should have a condition of parole that he stays away from the victim. If he's that big of a problem, the victim should have already put a PPO in place. Mind you, they are pieces of paper which don't stop bullets. But it gets most people attention.

He got 3-15 for molesting his stepdaughter, my niece. He broke the ppo before he was convicted by breaking into their house. If he gets paroled, it's going to be right back here. No family, no friends, no job. Don't understand why the state wouldn't send him downstate to live with his mom, but I figure it's a matter of time before he breaks parole. Maybe now my sis will get her CPL. I guess I'll be sleeping on my sister's couch for a couple months if he does get parole.

Call the prosecutor in the county he was convicted. Have others do the same. It works well in Monroe co.
