How is deer hunting going for you guys this year? I had a really good initial few days starting October 20, and then it was like no daytime activity. Lots of corn up to the east of me, (beans on my land, and adjacent properties, all cut) and my experience is that they tend to go into the standing corn with any pressure at all.
Heading out tomorrow to fill a fall turkey tag and get more seasoned and stacked firewood up to the house, although I don't think I'll be burning any wood for a few more weeks. |

Neighbor took an 8 point. Oscoda/Alcona North side of the counties. He hunts the same spot each year. He said, tons of Does not many bucks. Place I hunt for deer, I also hunt small game, etc (near the same area posted above). SMALL amount of deer traffic, I was out for a few days a week ago. Also, acorns sucked this year! He stated the same thing. |

I took a big doe. The last couple of years I didn't hoping for a buck since I have them on my camera at night. I ended up with nothing then. I took a decent 7 that I thought was an 8, and a doe. I'll fill 2 more doe tags between rifle season and the late antler less seasons. Checked my cams last night and the bucks I see are all at zero dark thirty. I wish the DNR would push APR's at least down to the M46/M57 line, plenty of 1.5-2.5 year old bucks around, but they won't make it past the opening barrage on 15 Nov. I am seeing far more turkeys than past years. |
| Macomb County here. So far one big 10 point (est 140") got a blade across his back (he'll live) from another hunter and one 3.5 year old 8 pt. down. Seeing deer every sit and seeing some really nice bucks as well. Seems like a alot of deer around this year, but then again, there kind of always is. I wish Michigan would mandate antler point restrictions to an 8 point with a 16" spread or better. Couldn't imagine the quality of bucks in just a couple years. You want meat, shoot a doe or 3. |

North kent county. I stuck a 4 point a few weeks ago. The rut seems to be starting to kick into gear. This next week should get good if it can stay cold. You east or west of 131? Seems like every deer hunter I know or talk to wants APR's, I have no idea how this hasn't happened state side yet. Went out today after turkeys and about got heat stroke. 67 in November? |

Tell me about it. Sweating in November? No thanks |

I guess someone else got a deer on M14, just past the 275/96 change, before Sheldon. I drove past a headless deer carcass and a white SUV that was tore all to shit. I would love to know the story behind that one. That is just the worst. A few years ago I was hunting a 150" class buck behind the house. Trail cam pics for a few years. He went ghost one year until I fugged up on him. (That's a story in its self. |

I think I was just north of Newaygo and along the road I see a guy swinging an axe chopping off a bucks head, his truck off the road with steam coming from the hood. I guess he got his buck. Kinda freaked me out, and I don't freak none too easy. I was watching an 11 point all summer in 2015. Didn't see it in the field while hunting, but a guy that does work for me on the property casually mentions the neighbor kid with like .25 acres of actual woods to hunt got "a pretty nice" 11 point on opening day of bow season. I tried to be nonchalant about it until he left. ETA: what is interesting is how many deer I shoot that are full of apples, and we don't really have any apples trees in the area. Just a few strays from back in the day. Going to try to get back out Monday, and then that will be it for archery until the live fire exercise that is opening day. I have doe tags as well, but I like to hunt that late season in December. |
