Anyone noticing more coyotes this year when out hunting? I saw 2 out during daylight hours just trotting in the open like they own the place yesterday, and two distinct groups yipping and barking as I was setting up for a morning bow hunt.
My horse/cat lady neighbor says she has them around her pastures all the time. I need to get shooting them but I'm always busy with work on my property or hunting something else. I guess it will be a winter project. |

Seems like the last five years or so they really took off in numbers. They are adaptive little buggers and are figuring out how to cope with urban expansion and decreased farm land.
Seems like more rodents too, which may explain the yote numbers. We have an epidemic level of chipmunks around this year. I lost count of the number I've killed at my house and cabin. |
| In my area of western mich, it seems like it is very cyclical. We will go 1-2 years seeing coyotes while deer hunting (and shooting them when we can) and then a few years where we don't even hear them. The years that we never see them are the years with an abundance of small critters running around (rabbits squirrels and possums.) This year so far looks like a coyote year. |

I assume that's the nature of the game. The coyotes eat all of the critters and then the coyotes starve and die off. Then the critters rebound quickly, then the coyotes follow. And on and on. |

I've been considering trying my luck at these bastages. I don't see too many of them around here however.
I have always been someone who hunts to eat the meat and it's kinda out of my comfort zone. Not even sure where I'd go unless I found some private land of someones to hunt. The hunt videos on YouTube sure look like a blast though. |

They get a lot of fawns and turkeys where I am. That puts me in direct competition with them. Just sent the parts out to GAP for a heavy .22-250 build that will let me range my back fields better than my 18" Noveske. I just need to get an e-caller and set up a couple of good hide sites. I like to hunt/trap/shoot all year, so it's a win win to take a few song dogs out. As others have said, the chipmunk population is high, too. |

Quoted: Having best year so far calling them, 7 down so far, always looking for more places to call em. Numbers seem high this year from my reports http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o68/krotty/IMG_20150926_204640_zpsbmz0qltg.jpg |
| Saw 3rd yote in 3 days tonight. Saw 2 before 1st light saturday, couldn't really tell what they were till right under me. Tonight had one cruise in at sunset. Got scent busted bad; had a stinky new piece of camo burlap wrapped around my stand and that yote was coming straight into me when he stopped 30 yards out, sniffed and looked right at me. Took a hard right and circled eyeing me the whole time. Won't burn a broadhead on a yote but Ima keep a field point handy from now on. |

Saves up to four fawns according to the interwebs |

As a former garbage man, you should know that throwing animal remains in the landfill is illegal. At least at both of the ones that I went to it was. Quoted:

I suppose that they expect you to bury it or just dump it in the woods where any remains would be eaten. I did see carcasses in the landfill but if we got caught with one in a load then we would be getting a fine. |
