This article is from the State Journal, Friday July 8th, 1938. Happened in Midland.
I found it interesting and worth the short read. Too bad this type of citizenship doesn't happen too often anymore. 
The article goes on to say that Chebatoris was hung for his part in the robbery. |

I grew up in Midland.
I called the cops once because the local thugs had seen me collecting money from customers for my paper route and were waiting at the end of the block to rob me as they had tried to do before. The fucking piece of shit dispatcher told me that they weren't going to send a cop. The dentist would have a bad day in Midland if he had done that in my lifetime. May fuck be upon that town. 
Good shoot, though. That's exactly how it SHOULD happen, and how the press should cover a story. |

I created problems and had to be silenced. In my experience they'd START interactions with kids and young adults by poking you in the chest and making threats. Unless parents were looking, Then they were friendly, paternal acting. There were so many negative experiences with them that happened for no rational reason that I never knew cops WEREN'T overbearing tyrants until I moved to Lansing and made friends with a couple LPD officers. |
