There is a march coming up April on the 29th in Lansing at the Capital building at 9:45am, I just thought I would post this to give everyone a chance to make plans! A march will proceed to the Capitol from the intersection
of Michigan Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave. beginning at 9:45 am. Open & concealed carry are welcome at this event. This event is in conjunction with Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners, Michigan Open Carry, Michigan Gun Owners, Students for Concealed Carry, Young Guns of Michigan, and White Feather Press. |

Yeah I was thinking of the one in Grand Rapids on March 2nd. i didn't know that GR had one also! would you happen to have anymore info on that? Here is part of the email I got from MOC, can forward you the whole thing if you want more info. March 2nd, Open Carry Rally/March
That's right folks, this isn't your typical gathering, this is a march! Background: On Sunday, March 3rd 2013, around 12pm, Johann Deffert was walking home from breakfast with a holstered openly carried pistol. Despite having done nothing wrong, Mr. Deffert was detained at gunpoint by the Grand Rapids Police. Mr. Deffert was forced to lie on the ground while he was handcuffed. During this detention, his firearm and identification were taken from him. Two officers then proceeded to berate Mr. Deffert for lawfully openly carrying his handgun. One officer even threatened to further harass Mr. Deffert by reporting him to the Kent County gun board. Eventually, Mr. Deffert was released after the officers were unable to find something to charge him with. Event Details Michigan Open Carry will be holding a demonstration of every day open carriers, the day before the one year anniversary of Mr. Deffert's detainment. Our goal is to demonstrate in force, what the typical open carrier is like, and to show that there is nothing to be concerned about. We will be walking the same route, at the same time, on the same day of the week as Mr. Deffert. |

A Tuesday? They'd get a LOT more people by holding out for a Monday or Friday.
How much notice is required to get a specific date reserved for functions at the Capital? The legislature is only in-session Tues. - Thurs. They don't hold any meetings, and legislators aren't required to be in Lansing, on Mon. And Fri. What a nice cushy job schedule... |

When is Easter? I'm taking off around Easter this year. I think it falls on a Sunday this year if I'm not mistaken. Isn't Easter always on a Sunday? Easter is always on a Sunday. It's April 20th this year. |
