Quoted:
This is no big deal to me... I have Canadian relatives with their PAL (possession & Acquisition Licence). There is no .22 LR shortage in Canada. So the shortage here is being perpetuated by the gubermint? |

It's being perpetuated by the folks who buy everything on the shelf no matter if they need it or not. (IMHO) |

Everything was fine before he started spouting off after sandy hook. |
| True story, but it's been almost a year since Sandy Hook. The gun control has generally been shot down at most levels of state and federal governments, minus the occasional slip under the radar like the Garand ban. At this point we're doing it to ourselves. Just my .02 |

A good friend of mine called Federal a few weeks ago and got ahold of some really high up honcho to get an answer about where all the ammo is (particularly .22LR) and was told that they are running around the clock, shipping to all of the same places they always have, and what happens after that is anyone's guess. I bought an AR stock from Canada a few months ago, I still get junk emails from the place I got it from........ They break my heart with the price of ammo, all you could possibly want. I stopped reading when Norinco .223 was $200 for almost 1200 rounds. |

I don't think he was smuggling it for 'terrorist' purposes...more likely it was for resale or for a state side buddy.
That article was full of thinking it was for nefarious activities.
It has been mentioned a few times how much ammo Canada has sitting on the selves and there are people that want 22lr bad! |

No, you can't import ammo yourself. I don't know if it falls under arms import/export laws or ITAR but it involves BATF paperwork, and probably secure bonded customs warehousing to get it in the country-small arms importation can mean some pretty dangerous shit.
Not saying it's impossible, but by the time you got your first brick of Federal Bulk Pack in your hand you might as well have just gone into business doing it for a living. It wouldn't last long though, in a year or two the market will have cooled off and you won't be able to make enough to support the business. |
