Where did the pit map thread go, I was thinking about heading up there, but I can't find the map.

Don't forget about the new rules about targets. It's not as fun as it used to be

What new rules?  Are they actually being enforced, and can they be enforced?, under what law are the rules enforceable?

All I was planning on doing was setting up a temporary wooden target frame (foldable) to hang paper targets from, and maybe shoot some cans, and old Gatorade bottles off the top off (taking them with me when I go).  And a .22 spinner target.

I think wood and paper are fine under the new rule set, bottles and cans i'm not sure about. I don't have a copy of the new rules in front of me, but i think it said, only paper, clays and wood? Although i'm not 100%. As far as them being enforced i'm out there about 2-3 times a month...there's no "new" way i'm aware of that the rules are being enforced...

Edit: Just checked it says Paper, clay or cardboard are the only acceptable targets.

Paper, clay, and cardboard are the only acceptable targets. There's no mention of what is acceptable for target mounts. The rules are supposed to be posted out there now, but I haven't been since the rules change.

They are enforceable by the DNR with a fine. How much, I'm not sure, but I also wouldn't count on meeting a nice DNR officer.

I think if you clean up after yourself and don't act like a fool, you should be fine.

Was out there a couple months ago and while we were there a DNR officer had pulled in a sat there. Little bit later a guy pulled up and started to unload a tv from his truck, even though it's painted on the firing line "paper, cardboard, and clays only." The officer had some words with the guy but that was it.

Yeah the new rule kinda sucks, but the place has been staying much cleaner. I guess the new rule (not really new now, I think it came around back in March) is enforced through a land use order?

Edit: found a Lapeer Pit sticky over on MGO

Yes, the DNR director issued a new land use order. It gives DNR officers powers to issue citations.

What is that open spot to the North East in the satellite view?  It looks like it has a narrow entrance off Byers Road.

It appears to be another firing range, is there ANOTHER pit?  Is that also public, or is that private land?
