My wife and a friend are looking to get their CPL's. I was wondering if anyone knows where there are some woman only classes in the lapeer area.

I don't know about Lapeer, but I took mine at firearm exchange shooting range in Livonia and it was taught by a women.  I believe she said that she does women only classes.

I would recommend she find a class based on the instructor, not the gendar makeup of the class.

Carrying a CW involves the possibility of shooting someone. That typically involves the loss of bodily fluids, including blood and urine, and possibily watching the person you (justifiably)just shot scream in agony, or die in front of you by drowning in their own blood or be missing part of their face but still alive and aware. This is reality.

If you can't deal with a mixed gender class, I'm not sure carrying is going to be something you are comfortable with.

I was thinking of the class from the woman's definsive point of view would help. I've been carrying for ten years but thought she might bennifit form the woman's perspective. I don't know many I'm thinking too much into it.

shooting a person doesnt have gender perspectives. Whether your male or female its ll involves the same thing. A good instructor is going to make every student at ease. Why risk taking instruction from a bad instructor just becuase they run women only class ect.

Just like being an LEO, MIL ninja, Comp shooter doesnt make someone a good instructor.

Interesting points of view flying around here.
While I agree that "defensive mindset/tactics/skills"  are, or should be fairly gender-blind, I doubt many of my fellow instructors would object to a "beginners-only" or an "intermediate-only" class ... and tailor their teaching to match their particular students.
So, I'm not 100% on board with the seeming (and eloquent) objections, for want of a better word, to a "women's-only" class.
OTOH ... to the OP ... if your wife and her friend are irrationally seeking "hand-holding", an unrealistic comfort level, or simply think a women instructor is somehow more competent to teach other women ... I've got a REAL problem with that.
The only legitimate reason to even look for a women-only class that I can think of is if there are so many quality and competent instructors available and other women can give personal feedback that helps narrow the search.
Let us know who they choose and consider an AAR.

Stay safe

I don't know about Women's only classes, but actually came into the forum to give a plug to these guys:

http://www.michiganccwclass.com

The class was $80, mostly enjoyable (as much as going through the laws can be), with good instruction and everything provided.  We shot Ruger Mark III(?) .22 pistols.

Several people in my class had not shot before, and it was a friendly and informal class.
