Apologies to the mods if I'm breaking a rule somewhere; I've been lurking a while, and couldn't find a spot to ask this question. (Please feel free to move or delete this post if it's out of line.)

I'm in the process of assembling my first AR, and I'm in the process of pricing out handguard and front sight options. I've almost settled on a YHM free-floating rail, but I don't have the wrench required to install one. Is there anyone in the Metro Detroit area who has one they would be willing to lend?

Thanks.

If your referring to the tool that removes the barrel they are not that expensive and should be something one should have anyways. That being said there is more to just taking off a barrel and putting it back on. It must be torqued back to spec properly or the free float tube will be for nothing. My advice is to get the manual either on a PDF file like this one. http://www.scribd.com/doc/3356931/M16-MAINTENANCE-MANUAL or pick up a copy either online or at a gunshow.

You are also going to need the upper vice block so you can remove the barrel. Many places sell them such as  this one.  http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=22385/avs%7CMake_3=AR-15zz1zzM4/Product/AR_15_M16_UPPER_RECEIVER_ACTION_BLOCK

Take your time and do it right get the tools and the manuals you will need to do the job right. It will save you a lot of headaches later.
