Washington State activists have moved legislation with the house committee recommending passage to allow the lawful use of silencers. It was legal to own a silencer but illegal to actually use it.
Montana is moving legislation to allow hunting with silencers. It was legal to own a silencer but not to hunt with them. Their state house has recommended passage! What the hell is the matter with Michigan legislators? It's not the legislators in Michigan, it's the retarded head of the state police who believes that since the AG's opinion doesn't specifically state that suppressors are legal we can not have them. Nevermind that the new MG opinion states that it overrules the older opinion.

Since silencers are becoming the trendy legislative issue - I'd start copying the news from the several states in recent history to reform NFA style laws and send copies to your legislators asking them what the problem is? Hey man - they just legalized SBR's and SBS here in Alabama - heard or seen of any carnage committed with them all of a sudden? How about Michigan - are the streets awash in blood from all the pre 86 transferable machine guns in private hands since the AG's 2005 opinion???
The Director of the MSP can be replaced by a new Governor I suppose. Ask the new AG if he would prepare a study and recommendation to change the law? Do any of you guys know the new AG on a personal basis? If so ask him on the side sometime about these issues. |
