A life long friend just had surgery on his right shoulder and can't move his right arm under his own power for another six weeks. He and I both have current CPL's and I was told I could loan him my LCP for him to pocket carry on his off-side as he can't carry his G23 on his right side or use his right arm at all. I've asked a few people but nobody seems to know the law......Any help would be fantastic.......Trapfan.

You can only loan a hand gun to someone that has a cpl.

As mi650 said as long as he's got a valid CPL then it is legal for him to carry your handgun without you present. If he didn't have a CPL them it wouldn't be legal for him to posses your handgun without you present, At least that's my understanding of the law. HTH

i am pretty sure that they got rid of this law, basicly my understanding is if its not yours you can not carry or have it with you.

3. Is it okay if I loan my pistol to a friend?

MCL 28.432   An individual can carry, possess, use or transport a pistol belonging to another individual, if the pistol is properly licensed and inspected under the Act, and the individual carrying, possessing, using or transporting the pistol has obtained a license to carry a pistol concealed permit from Michigan.

Pretty sure you should read the law.  Don't post about being pretty sure.  Like the guy above me, go look up the law and know it.  If you own a gun and carry it you should know the law.  Law says if you have a valid CPL, then you can carry a legally registered pistol regardless of who owns it.

Gentlemen:  While not intending to steal the thread...Would or could a registered owner be held liable for the negligence or even lawful actions of another CPL holder during an accidental or intentional action?  Regards

The way I look at it is if you were found not responsible for their actions the lawyer costs would break you . I lend my friends (that I know well)  my pistols to try out or targets practice only.
If they were in a pinch I would sell them one for a buck have them register it in their name and then carry it.
