Hello,
I've got a cousin who wants to take a CPL course in GR. He's new to shooting and I'd like some recommendations. I'd like a course that could give him some useful information/instruction and not one of those "stamp your card" type outfits. Jake |

Jake Silver Bullet has a decent class, but they tend to spread too much of their "knowledge" around that place. Southkent Sportsmans Club has classes, I believe they allow non-members at an increased price. |

It's a drive from you, but if you can make it to Shelby Township, I have a class scheduled for August 14th from 9-5, Message me if your interested, I'll bring lunch, and I'll even give you an ARFCOM discount, I don't know if you want to drive that far though. |

Had a few guys "sweeping" everyone with their pistols when I took the class at Silver Bullet. The 2 instructors (1 was the owner) shrugged it off as no big deal until the 4th time I called it to attention. I felt the class was too big for just 2 instructors to handle. Problem #2 I had was the non owner instructor leaving 7 pistols unattended in the classroom (which says on the door of said classroom , "NO FIREARMS ALLOWED IN CLASSROOMS" ) with no one watching over them while we were on the firing range. Anybody could have walked down the hallway towards the restrooms across from that classroom and walked out with them without anyone seeing it. The legal portion of the class was top notch and the attorney that held that portion of the class will be the one I call in time of needing legal help involving a firearm. Now this was 10 years ago, but the lack of safety there does not impress me. When my wife decides it's time for her to get her CPL, it wont be at Silver Bullet. |

A lot can change in 10 years. Yep - for the better or for the worse... I still go there once in a while. Just my head is always on a swivel when shooting on the range when someone else in in with me. They don't seem to have the R.O. out on the range too often anymore like they use too when they first opened. They use to watch you like a hawk. You would think that after the few times they have had people commit suicide (which one wasn't that long ago) with the rental guns they would watch better. But that goes to the above post I made that they get complacent and lazy about the safety . |
