My wife and I both came down with terrible vomiting and diarrhea over the past week.  Landed us both in the ER for major dehydration.

About 4 other members of the extended family got sick shortly after Christmas eve, so someone was carrying it around.

Had it about 2 weeks ago...about 15 people I know got it as well, including my next door neighbor.

Next time you get this, drink the "kids electrolyte" juice or Sprite. The key is to drink a tea-spoon every 5-10 minutes, might not sound like much but it works. If you drink any more than that it will 'come back up".

Also try to eat "light", I was not able to touch food for about 18 hours after it started...made some rice and that is all I had that night.

It seems to be lasting ~24hrs.

Whatever this was is hell.

We tried every re-hydration remedy and eventually my doctor told us that an IV drip looked like the only way to get some fluids into our system.  Over 30 hours after initial onset I was still vomiting a few minutes after very small amounts of fluid intake.

lasts 24 hours eh? Sounds like the stomach flu. I've had it twice in my life. I must say, both times were the worst 24 hours of my life.

It's very contagious too. My family had it one time, and I went to my parents for a few hours, nobody sneezed or coughed around me, so I thought I was pretty safe because of that. Nope, I still got it.

My daughter got nailed w/ it on 12/20 (both ends), my son got it on 12/21 (both ends), mother in law got it on 12/21 (both ends), I got it on 12/22 (just diarea), Father in law on 12/23 (both ends).  My wife some how got by w/o getting it.

It sucked and came on fast!

My wife's just getting over that and I had it a couple weeks ago.  Puked so hard I tore cartilage between my ribs.  She's an ER nurse and brings home all kinds of nasty bugs for me to try out.
