Hey guys, It has been a while sense I was on last, but I knew this was the place to go for this question.

A friend of mine had a silencer without the guts in it on his AR-15, he told me it was legal to own just the housing. Is this true of BS?

Best regards, Bill

A "dummy" suppressor is perfectly legal, but it it has the ability to open up and have packing put inside, it may be considered a suppressor.  Every dummy I've seen is welded shut for this reason.
