So I sold something on ebay. It was a book. For about 50 dollars. Went to ship it through UPS. They want 10 dollars to ship it about two cities over.

problem is I have 2 other textbooks to ship. Their in different States. So if 2 cities over costs 10 dollars. I cant imagine what the cost would be for something going across the country or something. 20-30 each.

Ship media mail at Post Office. Don't use UPS, they have minimum rates.

If you sign up for an online account with UPS and/or FedEx, you can check rates for both and will get a discount over typical "counter rates".  My Sam's Club membership also nets me an additional 2-10% off FedEx shipments I prepare with my online account.  I have found FedEx to have better rates on most of the stuff I ship and I rarely use UPS for anything.  The only cheaper rates I have found then FedEx (for me) are typically through the USPS and only on smaller packages (usually 1-2 lbs.), Flat Rate type shipments, or Media Mail.

If you sign up for a USPS online account, they also give a small discount if you pay and print labels online.  The only drawback is they don't allow you to pay and print Media Mail shipments online - you have to go to the PO to do those.

Must be you just have a bad string of luck. I ship and receive USPS when possible and have never had a problem. Cheaper than ups and I have had good delivery times.

This is why you charge the buyer for the shipping cost. Why are you bitching about something that you shouldn't even have coming out of your pocket?

LMFAO - I was thinking this as I progressed down the thread, and then I read it.

Im just merely posting just how expensive UPS is. I went to USPS and paid 12 dollars to ship 3 books. Not shabby compared to 10 per book.

UPS/FedEx are better for larger packages.

Small stuff like books, CD's - better off with USPS.
