My wife said I was crazy for wanting to go on a day like this one. There must have been twenty or more cars in the ditch on the way there. Maybe more on the way back. "I piddy da foos." We saw a bunch go into the rails. The joint was hopping at the show . This show finally had the parts I was looking for. I'm happy I can now put the finishing touches on my latest project. With the lag in delivery of Internet orders I was wondering when I would get it done. I'll be running it this week sometime. I got home safely though but just barely. My wife was right.

I got up there at 10.  The way up wasn't too bad.  The way home sucked.  It was my first time there, and it was packed.  Went looking for a BAR sling for my new toy and a few odds and ends.

We got a late start. My tires are getting pretty bad so, it was slow going to and fro.  Got there after 12 and didn't stay too long. I had to get back for other commitments but, I did get to most of the tables.

BAR eh...you always seem to have the REAL fun toys.

This.
Saw only 1 complete lower from a non-dealer.  Paint job looked like crap.  $300 was probly the best deal on a lower I saw though.

$300-$400 for lowers
Seen a pisol lower for $750.[>:/]
Glock 18 mags for $75-90 ea.

This is gonna suck.

Came home with a muzzel brake if the 1911 and $5 worth of strike anywhere matches.

Milsurps were on lock down as well.  I tried getting midwest guns to come down on a cheap m44.  Only had $70 to pay for a $79.99 rifle.  I was actually ridiculed for my offer.  They told me they were doing me a service by even offering these rifles this low.  Stupid C&R holder that is me for knowing what they get the rifles for.

The trip down from up north was fast & dry.  Set the cruise at 73 & let off at the Birch Run exit.

I had an upper to part with for $350 with bcc & figured it wouldn't last long.  A couple dealers just sniffed, as expected.  A looker or two as I made my first lap then a fellow, who appeared to be hanging out with a guy who had a table, made an offer.  Taking less in this current market didn't interest me as just 20 feet away Ranger had 20" heavy uppers for $425-$475.   The guy dug into his wallet & I fattened mine.

It didn't last long in there tho

I've had my Savage 12BVSS-S .223 since 2002 and it's had a low cost, black, 6-24x44 BSA scope on it since.  The small profit from the upper enabled me to put that cash on a good used bright Burris Signature 8-32x 44mm Target scope. Their starting price of $445 wasn't actually too bad considering this model currently sells new for $649. I was able to haggle them down to $350 & that included a pair of Leupold rings.

The rifle proved itself years ago even with the cheap optics. Now with the Burris sitting nicely in the Signature Zee rings I look forward to some serious long range Prairie Dog blasting. I may even start using the Savage for our club's 500yd shoot.

My son tried to sell a couple pistols.  Dealers were not interested but he had a couple bites from guys wandering around.  He was asking $200 for his CZ52 w/ 300rds of ammo.  That is a great price compared to the $300 one dealer is asking for just the handgun.  Alas, lookers but no one with a purchase permit.  No dealer was interested in handling a private transaction for a transfer fee either.

We left out late in the afternoon with some 7.62x54R reloadable brass for $10 & some RCBS 30 cabine dies w/holder for $12.

I noticed several women looking at handguns.  A few buyers too.

Prices were a bit astonishing.  $275 for a Bauer 25acp with extra mag & spare slide. $650 for a 1st gen Colt Detective.  16" AR15 $1300-$1500.  Stripped lowers $235.

Here I thought I got hosed last year on a DPMS stripped lower for $135+tax.

As is always the case, if you price your stuff to sell it will sell.  If you put a gold plated price on it you'll take it home.

I brought a couple guns to walk around and sell but in the end I just left them in the car, didn't even bring them in.

Went down to the Indy 1500 gun show on Friday & Saturday.  Lowers still could be found for $159(really off brands)-$209(Rock River & S&W) with lots in between those price points.  Tons of mags for both the AKS($15 used & $20 NIW) and AR.  Even found a few windowed PMags for $25 each.  Not that they were a bargain, but at todays inflated rates not so bad.

Have you tried a Sham-Wow?
They really work. One of the few "as seen on TV" products that's worth buying.

"It's made in Germany, so you know it's good"

BTW, The painted ugly lower ended up selling three isles into the show......

Unless I'm selling something I avoid the "show", and hadn't been there in almost a year. Lots of unrelated crap, and lots of dealers out of touch with reality.  YMMV

I went yesterday at the end.  Plus side some of the dealers are already dropping their prices a little.  Negative side is that there are still a lot of guys trying to get stupid prices for their guns.  I saw a guy selling "pre ban" Colts for $2500.   I guess some of that could be good for me, I'm thinking about selling a few rifles, Century FAL I paid $400 for was $1200 and a CETME I paid $600 for is now $1100 and the WASR I bought for $200 is now $800  I noticed that their not selling though.

I did have a bit of luck, picked up an IMI UZI with 7 mags for $850, and saw a Valmet M76 for $1600 which isnt a half bad deal. wish i had the cash for the second one.

Who did you buy from????   The guy in the hall on the right as you walked in?  back right corner?   He was high on part prices.

I bought 2 firing pins, tactical latch, 2 extractors, bolt cam pin, and firing pin retainer clip for $38 from Ranger LLC.

What is sad..... is I spent a total of $80 at the show and came out with a baggy of parts smaller than a sandwich bag

My little baggy cost me $139. I also got 8 lbs of powder for $140+.
