Can anyone recommend me a gunsmith in the Grand Rapids area?  No big deal, I just want my Winchester 1300 drilled and tapped.

The guy @ Al & Bob's on Division is pretty good, seems to know his stuff. I am going to do the same thing with my 870.

Jeff is the guy. Used to work @ Gander.

I've had some minor work done at Bachelder's with no complaints.  They seem like good people.

Yup, I ended up taking it there.  I'm really pleased with his work, and more pleased to have it back

-1 on Bachelder's. I've had nothing but problems from them in the past.

Care to elaborate the issue?

I dropped off a M1 Garand and a Marlin lever gun to them a few years back to fix. The Marlin's lever never felt right after that but I never said anything to them about that because I was so PO'ed at them for all the excuses and lies about fixing the garand. Two times they called me to say the garand was fixed, I'd show up to pick it up and they had no clue who called because it wasn't even looked at yet. Over 6 months go by, they say it's the OP rod, I thought that was odd because I tried replacing it all ready once before and even gave them the one I bought. They said they were going to put a "NEW" one on it. I thought that was odd since that hadn't been made in ages but figured they found a New in stock one, Well it wasn't new. They assured me they fired over 20 rounds and it worked great.
Well it was worse then when I dropped it off to them, and yes I was using the correct ammo.

Found out the gas hole in the barrel was drilled out to large and gouged the bore with the drill bit. If they did it, I can't prove it but with it being worse than before, even with the old rod I'm pissed. I've spent way too much money on this so it just hangs above the fireplace Maybe one day I'll get a barreled receiver from the CMP and be done with it.
The day I picked it up there were 2 other guys in the waiting area with complaints also, but I didn't get into it with them as to what was their problems, but one was really pissed by the look on his face.

I'm sure if you were spending a couple grand having a double or over/under made by them it would be great, but they won't see any of my money.

I've never had Dan do any work , but I have talked to him a few times and he seems good to go.
